"And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in
heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore
and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to observe all that I have commanded you. And
behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'"
~ Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
The Voice of the Martyrs Canada's first purpose is to encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission. When our founders, Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, pleaded for Western Christians to remember the suffering church by providing tools to accomplish the work of the Lord in environments of hostility and oppression, the Great Commission was foremost on their minds.
How else would those who vehemently opposed the Gospel come to know the truth if His church remained silent? Thus the impassioned appeal that came from the persecuted church, and frequently delivered by Rev. Wurmbrand in his sermons and writings, was this: "Give us the tools we need! We will pay the price for using them!" As a result, persecuted Christians around the world today are encouraged and strengthened through the work of this mission and the many others that faithfully stand with them in their suffering.
Interestingly, the solution to relieving the suffering of our persecuted family does not come in the form of things we perceive will bring them comfort, but rather found through remembrance; the assurance that they are not cut off from the body of Christ. Our gifts, then, are not so much an act of sympathy on our part, but an act of faith that the tools provided will be used to fulfill the Great Commission for the glory of our Heavenly Father.
Friends, I pray you will experience the hope of glory and the abundant joy 'life in Christ' brings. As you have provided tools to our persecuted family through your generous giving and prayers, may you too be encouraged and strengthened to fulfill the Great Commission in your community; and willing to share the love of the Father through Jesus, His Son, regardless of opposition.
The One who has called us is faithful. And what a comfort to know He is with us, His church, even to the end of the age.
Grace and peace,
