Church leader demonstrates the abuse he faced from Eritrean authorities |
Last week, the Persecution and Prayer Alert reported on the arrest of three Orthodox Church leaders (click here for details). The government of Eritrea has banned all religions other than the Orthodox, Evangelical Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches. It was therefore somewhat unusual for Orthodox leaders to be arrested. However, Christian Solidarity Worldwide reports that the three were all priests involved in a renewal movement within the Orthodox Church; a movement opposed by the government.
Continue to pray for these three, along with hundreds of others imprisoned for their faith in Eritrea .
