With 59 Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards, five Grammy Awards, an American Music Award and a historic 50 No. 1 singles, he has sold more than 16 million albums with 10 RIAA-Certified Gold or Platinum albums to his credit. As a vocal advocate of adoption, in 2003 Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth, founded Show Hope, a nonprofit organization that helps restore the hope of a family to orphans.
