Nigeria: Lina’s Story of Overcoming Fear and Trauma
At the young age of 12, “Lina” was forced to marry a much older man. A year after escaping the unhappy marriage, she became interested in Christianity. This resulted in severe opposition from her family, including physical beatings by her militant Muslim father. Despite the persecution, Lina decided to follow Jesus and, soon afterwards, suffered another traumatic event. As a young teen, she was sexually violated by her brother’s friend. However, even though Lina has endured tremendous suffering, her story is one of resilient faith. Today, alongside many other Nigerian women and girls who have been abused because of their love for Christ, Lina is finding hope and healing at Mara’s House!
