Since 1994, a Christian Jordanian widow, Siham Qandah, has faced the threat of having her children taken from her by her estranged brother.
According to an April 23 report from Middle East Concern, there have been court hearings on March 28 and April 11, attempting to remove her brother as legal guardian of the children, alleging that he is fraudulently using money from the children's trust account. When the brother failed to appear at the April 11 hearing, the judge proposed announcements in the local press to gain information on his whereabouts. The judge has also ordered an investigation into another recent withdrawal of funds from the trust account.
