Jordanian widow Siham Qandah has been involved in a long running situation in which she is threatened with the loss of her two children, Rawan (16) and Fadi (14), to an estranged brother who converted to Islam as a teenager. Legal action to remove the brother as guardian because of alleged fraudulent use of the children's trust fund has enabled her to retain custody of the children. In June, however, the judge ruled in favour of the brother, ignoring the allegations that the withdrawn funds were used fraudulently. An appeal against this decision was lodged in July, resulting in the judge being asked to investigate and explain the brother's usage of the children's money.
A hearing was scheduled for today, August 25, but according to Middle East Concern, when Siham arrived at the court house in the morning, the clerk informed her that no hearing was scheduled for today, and she would be told on Monday, August 30 the date for the hearing. This clearly contradicts the notification that she had received.
According to Middle East Concern, Jordanian Christians are asking believers around the world to continue praying for courage for the judge and all involved to acknowledge and present the facts of the situation regardless of the consequences. Pray also for peace and daily strength, both physical and emotional, for Siham, Rawan, Fadi and those supporting them. Pray for a resolution of this long running situation.
