Afghanistan: How Are Christians Surviving Taliban Rule?
A year after the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan, the promise of a less militant version of the Islamic group has not materialized. Life for women, girls, and citizens who are seen as unsupportive of the Taliban’s brand of Islam – including Christians – is difficult and dangerous.
Shoaib Ebadi is the President and Executive Director of Square One World Media, a Winnipeg-based ministry focussed on producing Christ-centred radio, TV and online programming. In the latest episode of Closer to the Fire, he shares an update on the situation experienced by followers of Jesus in Afghanistan and the many challenges they are presently facing. Mr. Ebadi is an Afghan Canadian from a Muslim background who hosts and produces Christian programming that is reaching into Afghanistan. Tune in as he speaks to VOMC’s Greg Musselman about the simultaneous heartbreak and hope of Christians in this troubled nation.
